Twitter page for EndoGastricSolutions' GERDHelp.com initiative

Created Twitter 'template' page to assist our surgeon/medical center accounts in building a presence on Twitter for their EGS' TIF procedure program for treating GERD.

  • EGS was one of the first medical device companies to utilize social networking sites like Twitter, Facebook, Youtube and Delicious in building greater brand and procedure awareness on the web.
  • Owing to the FDA's scrutiny of medical device companies' use of social media sites like Twitter to build brand and procedure awareness, EGS' Clinical Affairs department would let me build only a so-called 'template' Twitter page focused on our GERDHelp.com initiative for chronic GERD sufferers. Other than some initial news-related Tweets, I was not allowed to add anything new to the page or respond to user Tweets. The medical device industry as a whole is still learning how to use social media effectively without violating the FDA's current regs governing the use of those web channels.
